Panerai Radiomir 1940 Tourbillon Special Edition

Innovative New Chiming Timepiece

Officine Panerai has been linked to the timeless world of the sea for more than a century. During that time, the brand’s innovative watches have become renowned as a natural blend of Italian design, Swiss technology and passion for the sea.

Today, Panerai continues to draw inspiration from its enchanting past – and from the marine tradition of marking the passage of time by a ship’s bell – and that ancient ritual has been most recently invoked in the creation of the Radiomir 1940 Minute Repeater Carillon Tourbillon GMT red gold – 49mm.

This special edition model features the new P.2005/MR Manufacture movement, a hand-wound skeleton calibre fitted with a high-end minute repeater mechanism with distinctive technical characteristics. The chiming is activated by a push-piece at 8 o’clock, and it is carried out by three hammers instead of the traditional two, which enables three different sounds to be combined. The carillon can thus play a melody like that of a bell.

The watch can be personalised, not only in the choice of strap, hands and other special features, but also the possibility of making the case in a material other than red gold. Another key element of a Panerai watch is water resistance, in this case guaranteed to 3-bar (equivalent to a depth of about 30 metres).
